Emilia Schöller’s guide to Berlin

Berlin is the perfect city for a weekend getaway with your family. The city bustles with history and culture, and there is plenty to do and see. Our favourite Berliner Emilia Schöller has shared her top family-friendly tips when visiting the city, accompanied by her Elodie MONDO Stroller in Moonshell. Even if we can’t travel right now, we allow ourselves to dream and save up tips for the future. Make sure to save this piece of inspiration for when we can journey again.

When is the best time of the year to visit Berlin?

Berlin is lovely in Spring when the trees begin to bloom again after a cold city winter. Sometime between May and August is also great for long aimless walks, courtyard cafés, rooftops, parks full of joy and people from all over the world. And even when the weather disappoints, there are so many museums and galleries to visit.

Stroller friendly spots for breakfast, lunch and dinner with your family?

Our favourite breakfast spot is on our terrace (sorry, reservation is required). The second one is the Café Blume an der Hasenheide with a play corner and a little wooden slide. Good breakfast and good fun! And for the sweet tooth, go to Kauf Dich Glücklich Café in Prenzlauer Berg, it has a lovely and vibrant atmosphere.

A great place to have lunch and spend some time is in Café am Neuen See in the Tiergarten, the Central Park of Berlin. The inside is a restaurant, and the outside is a grand Biergarten with lots of space for your kids to run around. There is even a beautiful lake where you can rent boats, how cool is that? And what about dinner, what is that again? I forgot; somebody knows a good babysitter? But you guys should try the Korean Kimchi Princess in Kreuzberg.

Any favourite park or playground?

Me and my family like to go for strolls in the Friedrichshain Volkspark. Our little one loves splashing around the Märchenbrunnen, and there is even a small stream flowing where all the children play. And if that’s not enough, the dragon playground in the Schreinerstraße in Friedrichshain awaits.

Where do you go shopping?

You can find many local shops, boutiques, ateliers and second-hand shops in the most relaxing atmosphere, around Friedrichshain/Boxhagener Platz. I also adore Picknweight in Kreuzberg and the many flea markets scattered through Berlin.
