Florine Duif’s guide to Amsterdam
We joined gorgeous Florine Duif for some snapshots during Spring in her beloved city Amsterdam, which you can read about here. As we love Florine and Amsterdam, we had to make a re-visit and find out more of her favourite tips and go-to-places when visiting this magical city. And of course, accompanied by her ever-so-chic and practical Elodie MONDO Stroller. Even if we can’t travel right now, we allow ourselves to dream and save up tips for the future. Make sure to save this piece of inspiration for when we can journey again.
Top spots for breakfast, lunch and dinner with your family?
I love this place for coffee, breakfast, lunch and sweets. Iris, the owner, is so sweet and everything they serve is a feast for the eye! Oh, and have a look at their interior accessories, there is some very cool stuff.
In a corner on the Nine Streets, you’ll find this lovely restaurant, where you can enjoy your evening with your partner or friends. And every last Sunday of the month, they organise ‘Family Sundays’ where you can have dinner at 4.30 pm. There is a good kid’s menu, and nannies are present in a special kids’ room with colouring books and children’s movies, to entertain your kids in between meals.
This place is perfect for lunch, shopping and they even have a hairdresser. They have a cool kids’ concept store with a joining café. I like that your kid can go to the hairdresser on a Saturday, and they organise workshops and children’s parties.
Located in De Pijp, this is a beautiful place for coffee, shopping or to hang out with your child (meaning you’re reading a good magazine while your kid is playing). Don’t forget to buy a copy of my book Moeder Genoeg, if you’re there!
This place is one of my all-time-favourites. It’s super spacious, which is great with kids, and the food is amazing. It’s also the perfect spot for meeting up with friends.
Which are your favourite stroller-friendly cafés?
This place is super spacious as the building is made of sea containers, there is a kids’ corner, and you can even play board games yourself if you like. And there are good spots for changing diapers. Important!
What can I say – the atmosphere is nice, it looks cool and there is a lot of space for your stroller. It’s worth a visit!
This café has a fair amount of space between the tables and lovely babyccinos.
This gem has lovely sweets and great gluten- and dairy-free options. It’s also roomy, with a kids’ corner.
They organise cool kids’ activities, and it’s spacious.
Where do you go shopping?
This store has a collection of beautiful brands, the people are friendly, and the atmosphere is fabulous. I would almost say “Warning: don’t go in there, because you’re never going to want to leave”.
Gray Label is a gorgeous brand and a beautiful store. Almost everything is unisex, and the garments are super soft and very stylish. I’ve seen them grow from a small, cool Amsterdam brand to a global brand with integrity.
Any favourite park or playground?
There are a lot of lovely parks in Amsterdam, and almost everyone has a little playground. To name a few with nice spaces for kids to play, don’t miss Amstelpark, Vondelpark (you can have a coffee at Vondelpark 3), Flevopark, Gaasperpark, Gijsbrecht van Aemstelpark or Westerpark.
